Pre-requisites: Child Development I ECE 276 or equivalent; Language Arts and Literacy I ECE 235 and Language Arts and Literacy II ECE 236; matriculation into bachelor degree program. Development of young children from early reading and writing to fluent reading and writing and introduction to common reading problems. Investigation into developmentally and culturally appropriate reading material emphasized.

Toddler Practicum

Pre-requisites: Child Development I ECE 276 or equivalent; Infant/Toddler Programming ECE 251; matriculation into the bachelor degree program. Selfhood ECE 412 may be taken as pre-req or co-req. This 10 week field experience will require student to complete a placement in a toddler environment. Early intervention placements will also be an option in this placement. Students will be required to spend 4 hours per week in a childcare setting that serves at least 3 toddlers (12-36 months).
