Agreement for the Articulation

University of Cincinnati College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services Associates in Applied Science in Early Childhood Education, Birth to Five Online Program with the Early Childhood Learning Community
and
Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development and Affiliate School Districts
Program Area- Early Childhood Education
 
Introduction:
This agreement establishes program requirements and procedures between the above institutions to articulate Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development Secondary Technical Education Program in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services (CECH) Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Birth to Five, Online Program with the Early Childhood Learning Community (ECLC)
 
Articulation Overview:
Graduates of the Great Oaks Institute Secondary School Program in ECE in good standing may submit admission application and matriculation into the online A.A.S. Degree Program in ECE with CECH UC through ECLC.  After successfully completing twelve quarter credit hours of coursework with ECLC, students will receive advanced standing of 9 undergraduate quarter credits toward their A.A.S. degree in ECE Birth to Five.  After successfully completing 3 hours of Preschool Student Teaching Practicum with a grade of B or better, students will receive an additional 3 undergraduate quarter credits toward their A.A.S. degree in ECE Birth to Five.
 
Secondary School Portion of the Program Criteria and Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Secondary students must complete the secondary 2 year ECE program with a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
  • Secondary students must complete the secondary Competency Profile for ECE with all 10 Unit areas initialed and have final signature secondary instructor on the profile. See Appendix A.
  • Secondary students must complete the four industry standard certificates with secondary instructor initials and final signature on industry recognized certification and licensure opportunities document. See Appendix B.
  • Secondary students must graduate from the secondary program with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5.
  • Secondary students must graduate from the secondary program with an attendance record of 95% or greater.
 
Postsecondary Portion of the Program Criteria and Admission Period
  • Formal application for admission to UC CECH and matriculation into the online AAS ECE program with ECLC must be completed during the duration of this agreement between August 2006 and August 2009.
  • College credit advanced standing of 9 undergraduate quarter credit hours in CECH ECE courses may be applied after successful completion of 12 credit hours of study at UC with an overall GPA of 2.0 during the duration of this agreement between August 2006 and August 2009.
  • CECH ECE Courses to be applied as advanced standing are as follows:
    1. ECE272 Health, Safety and Nutrition in ECE (3 undergraduate quarter credit hours)
    2. ECE191 Orientation to Professional Practice in ECE (3 undergraduate quarter credit hours)
    3. ECE261 Families and Cultures (3 undergraduate quarter credit hours)
  • College credit of advanced standing of 3 undergraduate quarter credit hours in the following CECH ECE course may be applied after successful completion of 12 credit hours of study at UC and successful completion of 3 hours of CECH Preschool Student Teaching Practicum with a grade of B or better and an overall GPA of 2.0 during the duration of this agreement between August 2006 and August 2009.
    1. ECE243 Preschool Student Teaching (3 undergraduate practicum credit hours)
